Welcome to the 2023-24 School Year!

The staff at Hancock Elementary would like to welcome all our families to the 2023-24 school year!  Thank you to all the families who were able to come to our Meet and Greet and Orientation for UTK and Kindergarten on Friday.  Although we could not open today due to the tropical storm and potential damage to our school site, please know Hancock has been inspected and any damage has been corrected by our custodial crew and we are cleared for opening tomorrow.

We look forward to seeing everyone Tuesday, August 22nd.  The front gates to line up for classes will open at 7:35.  Our back and side gates near Waldron and Kelsey streets will also be open at 7:30.  Parents are welcome to enter campus.  All gates will close at 7:50 (at the second bell).  We ask all parents to exit the campus at that time.  Kindergarten will have early dismissal at 12:00 for the first two weeks of school.  Kindergarten gates will open at 12:00. Please note for the first two weeks for UTK and Kindergarten the back gates will not be open for dismissal with the exception of Thursdays.  For students in grades 1st - 5th, gates to dismiss will open at 2:00 for 2:10 dismissal each day except Thursday which is our minimum day each week.  Each Thursday our gates will open at 12:05 for 12:15 dismissal.  We are excited to begin a new school year with all of our newly enrolled students as well as all of our returning Hancock students..

Parking Lot for Staff Parking Only

Our school year is starting off with many more students which means many more staff members.  Please note that the Hancock parking lot will be limited to staff only. We have implemented a staff parking pass system. If you are not a staff member with a parking pass please do not park in a spot.  Please do not park in a Handicap Parking Space unless you have the appropriate placard. You will be asked to move. You may always use the drop off/pick up lanes to safely arrive/depart from school. Directions are below.

Getting to School Safely

If you plan to use the drop off/pick up lanes  please review this video on how to arrive at school safely that was made by our PTF.  All of the rules pertain to both car drop off/pick up as well as those walking to school.  It is less than 5 minutes to watch and will save everyone time and frustration as we arrive and depart safely the Hancock way.  Click here:  Getting to school Safely

Here is also a written version of how to use the drop off zone safely: Hancock Drop Off Directions.docx

Please do not park on Brumby Street.  There are signs notifying you that there is no school parking allowed and residents have had difficulty parking in their own driveways due to cars blocking them.

We are still looking for regular volunteers for our Safety Patrol.  Please contact Mrs. Beeler ([email protected]) or Ms. Rachel ([email protected]) for more information.

Food Services

The school district is offering free breakfast and lunch for all students this school year.

Visit the District’s Food Services Website to find nutrition information and weekly menus.  For Breakfast the cafeteria doors will open at 7:15. Students will eat in the lunch court or auditorium weather pending and must remain seated at the tables until the gates to campus open at 7:35.  Students will have lunch at school daily please see link:  Hancock Lunch Schedule

Back to School Packets

Back to School Packets will be going home with your students in the coming days. In those packets will be information about daily schedules, school calendar, lunch menus, etc. In addition, you will be getting a copy of your current enrollment card for you to verify and update your contact information. It is so important that you keep the record up to date and have your phone number and email address accurate in our system. Please take care that you review the packets and return all required information promptly.
