Daylight Savings Time Starts This Weekend

Don’t forget to “Spring Forward” Saturday night and change your clocks to Daylight Savings Time.

Universal Transitional Kindergarten

For the 2022-23 school year every district school will be offering Universal Transitional Kindergarten (UTK). The former Transitional Kindergarten (TK) will no longer exist.  In the UTK program students must turn 4 by Sept. 1, 2022. There is no deadline for turning 5.  The classroom will be taught by a Hancock teacher as well as a preschool teacher.  Due to the nature of the classroom having many 4 year olds the ratio is set for 24 students and 2 teachers.  While most schools will be limited to one UTK classroom, Principal Hightower was able to advocate for TWO UTK classrooms in order to meet the needs of military families. Registration for all UTK classrooms is anticipated to start online May 2nd and in person registration for UTK and Kindergarten at Hancock will begin May 9-20. Once we have UTK enrollment information available we will notify families so stay tuned to your Hancock Happenings so we may fill up our two UTK classes for next school year.

Mask Update and At Home Test Kits

On Mar 4, 2022, the district emailed all district families and employees that beginning April 4th (the day we return from Spring Break) all district sites will be mask optional indoors and outdoors. All other mitigation efforts will remain in place such as air filtration, weekly testing, hand washing, etc. No other changes are being made at this time.  The district is planning to offer at-home testing kits before Spring Break similar to testing kits from Winter Break. We hope to have enough kits for every child and staff member at Hancock. More information will be available once we have kits on campus.

Moving Soon? Please Call the Office

With Spring Break around the corner, we know that some families may be transitioning to new assignments during the break. Whenever you have plans to move, the Hancock office staff needs to know dates and destination information so that your student’s records can be finalized.  Please come in or contact our office staff at 619-605-3200 and press “2” during the menu to give us your student’s withdrawal information.

Upcoming Parent Teacher Conferences

The week before Spring Break (Mar 21-25) will be an entire week of early dismissal days so that teachers can meet with parents to review student progress in the 2nd grading period. Watch for messages from your teachers about scheduling meeting times during that week. Students will be dismissed at 12:15 each day. Please be sure to make any necessary arrangements for student pick-up at these earlier times.  Spring Break will be the following week Mar 28-Apr 1.

Order your Child’s Art Today!

Our school is participating in a creative fundraiser with Art to Remember that allows you to purchase keepsake products customized with your child's art. There are over 60 products and many are less than $15. These make great gifts and a percentage of every purchase goes right back to our school. Click on the link below and enter the online order code shown on your child's order form or to search for your child's artwork. Then, have fun shopping!  https://arttoremember.com/school/G85DEY

Lost and Found Fridays!

We will continue to roll out the rack of jackets and sweatshirts that have been piling up in our Lost & Found. After school each Friday, watch for the racks to be near the main gate so parents can look for student lost items.
