Halloween at Hancock

Get ready for a spooky Halloween parade! We are so excited to welcome back our Halloween parade at school on Monday, October 31st! To accommodate the large number of students, we will have to break up the parade into two groups:        UTK & K: 8:00 - 8:30a and 1st-5th grades: 1:30-2:00p

Both times will be at the main quad area. Gates will remain open in the morning for parents that would like to come to watch the early parade and will open again at 1:25 for the 2nd parade. Please remember that costumes must be able to be worn to school or be able to be put on without requiring assistance from staff, students may not bring toy weapons/accessories/or masks, and candy is not allowed at school

Plastic Free Day - Menu Change Wed Nov. 2

Wednesday 11/2 is “National Plastic Free Day” and Food Services will not be using plastic that day, a slight menu change has been made for that day and no plastic utensils will be available from the cafeteria. Menu Change: Sun Butter & Jelly Sandwich in place of yogurt   and at the Salad Bar: Jicama and celery sticks in place of Romaine lettuce and canned fruit.

Fall Photos by Lifetouch

Last week, students who were photographed in October were sent home with pre-ordered photo packages or a proof of the photo with information about ordering. If your student missed picture day, or if you would like to retake the photo, Lifetouch is offering a “retake day” at Hancock. Photographers will be on campus Wednesday, November 9th. If you would like to have them retake the fall photo, please send back the photo packet/proof with your student or give it directly to their teacher. This will let the teacher know to send your student for a retake on this day. If you have not seen the proof that was sent home, you can visit Lifetouch and enter your student’s ID number (this is the number they log into their laptop with) to see the photo and place orders.

Monstrous Fundraising!

Our Monster Dash was a great time last week. Students got to run or walk with their classmates with the music playing on Hancock’s track. Fun was had by all. We really appreciate all the parents and family members who were able to come and cheer on their students and even do a few laps themselves. It’s great being able to have our community come together for these events this year.

On the fundraising side, our results have been MONSTROUS, too. To date, we have raised $36,614.  We are so excited that our families have successfully worked to raise this money for our school and students! This allows our programs, field trips and classrooms to continue to have additional funds to enrich your students’ experience here at Hancock. The fundraising is still open, if you have additional donations. We are just 5 states away from getting a donation from EVERY state. If you know anyone from ND, SD, WY, VT, or NH, we’d love to complete our state map and get a donation from EVERY state. The deadline is 3:00pm Thursday Nov. 3rd. You can still turn in money or accept online donations until this deadline. www.getmovinfundhub.com

New After School Sports Program Begins Nov 29

549 Sports will be starting a new After School Basketball program in late November here at Hancock. This is an organized after school basketball curriculum that allows your child to learn on and off the court. Their goal is to empower children with confidence through sports. Kids are divided by age and skill level. The fast-paced classes will cover the fundamentals of basketball through dynamic drills, fun contests, and controlled scrimmaging. See flyer for cost, schedule and how to sign up. Note this is only open to grades K-5, not UTK.

Important Dates Approaching - Stay Informed!

November begins the holiday season and with it, many important dates to be aware of. There will be days with no school, extra minimum days and many special events.
