Scholastic Book Fair is Back!

Get ready! The Scholastic Book Fair is coming our way (YAY!). Choosing their own books empowers kids and inspires them to become Bolder, Prouder, and Stronger Readers. AND—as always—every book they buy earns rewards for our school.

Here’s what you need to know about the Fair, which will take place from November 7th - 18th during your child's library time:

  • Students can purchase books at the book fair during their classroom library time during the 2 weeks that fair is open.
  • Purchases can be made with cash or using eWallet. eWallet is a worry-free, cash-free way to make purchases. Anyone can contribute to your child’s eWallet if you share it with friends and family, who can then add funds and give your kids more books to enjoy.

Visit our Book Fair homepage to learn more and get started with eWallet and online shopping:

Picture Make-Up Day Wed., Nov 9th

If your student missed the original picture day, or if you would like to retake the photo, Lifetouch is offering a “retake day” at Hancock. Photographers will be on campus Wednesday, November 9th. All new students or students who were absent on the original picture day will be photographed. Teachers will only send students for retakes if they know the student needs it done, so please be sure to communicate in advance with the teachers. If you have questions about your student’s pictures or orders, contact Lifetouch at this link or 800-736-4753.

Parent Teacher Conferences Week of Nov 14 - 18th

During the week of November 14-18 (Monday - Friday) each day will be a minimum day in order to accommodate parent/teacher conferences.  Each day will be like a Thursday, dismissing at 12:00 for Kindergarten and 12:15 for grades 1-5.  Please make any childcare arrangements if your child is not already in Prime Time, ASYMCA, MCKC or MCYC.  If you have not signed up for a conference please contact your child’s teacher on how you may sign up.

5th Graders Begin to Look to Middle School

Hancock’s 5th grade students will have a choice to make in the coming weeks. 5th graders in the Canyon Hills Cluster choose between the two middle schools, DePortola and Farb. To help families and students make the decision, 5th graders visit the schools for a tour. In addition, parent meetings are held at each school to overview the options. Parent meetings are scheduled for the evenings of Nov 16 & 17. Students will visit schools during school hours on Nov 29 and Dec 9 as a field trip. See letter.

New After School Sports Program Begins Nov 29

549 Sports will be starting a new After School Basketball program in late November here at Hancock. This is an organized after school basketball curriculum that allows your child to learn on and off the court. Their goal is to empower children with confidence through sports. Kids are divided by age and skill level. The fast-paced classes will cover the fundamentals of basketball through dynamic drills, fun contests, and controlled scrimmaging. See flyer for cost, schedule and how to sign up. Note this is only open to grades K-5, not UTK.
