Daylight Savings Time Began Sunday

This weekend was the start of Daylight Saving Time and we have “sprung forward” an hour. Be sure you have changed your alarm clocks throughout your house so students arrive at school on time Monday.

5th Grade Promotion and Panoramic Photos 3/14

Lifetouch will be photographing our 5th graders on Tuesday this week. The students will get individual portraits wearing cap and gown in the morning and then will be photographed as a group (in their street clothes) around 11:00. If you are a 5th grade parent and have a couple hours in the morning to help the students with the cap and gowns and looking their best for the photographers, please email Mrs. Van Boxtel in the front office. We need a couple more volunteers to help from approximately 8:00-11:00 am.

Canyon Hills Cluster Meeting

On Thursday, March 16th from 8:00-9:00 AM all parents and community members are invited to attend the next Canyon Hills Cluster Meeting on Zoom.  We will have guests from the district who will be discussing the Summer Experience or Summer School that will be held at Hancock and Miller Elementary this year. You can join the Zoom Meeting here:  https://sandiegounified.zoom.us/j/88584448861  or on your Zoom device at Meeting ID: 885 8444 8861

Parent Teacher Conferences - Early Dismissal All Week Mar 20-24

During the week of March 20-24 (Monday - Friday) each day will be a minimum day in order to accommodate parent/teacher conferences.  Each day will be like a Thursday, dismissing at 12:00 for Kindergarten and 12:15 for grades 1-5.  Please make any childcare arrangements if your child is not already in Prime Time, ASYMCA, MCKC or MCYC.  If you have not signed up for a conference please contact your child’s teacher on how you may sign up.

Annual California School Parent Survey

Hancock Elementary School is asking parents to please participate in this annual ONLINE SURVEY so your opinions about our school can be heard. Your participation is voluntary. It is also very important. The information you provide will help guide district and school efforts to promote safety, enhance learning supports, and improve student achievement.

  • This is an anonymous survey.  It is designed so that no one can be identified from the data.  You do not have to respond to any questions that you feel could be used to identify you.  Simply skip any such questions.

  • All questions apply to this school only.

  •  The results are for the use of your district.  The California Department of Education and WestEd will preserve data confidentiality and refer any data requests to the district.

  •  If you have more than one child at this school, you will only need to complete one survey for this school. Please fill out just one survey about the school using your oldest child as a reference.

(Please Complete by Friday, March 24)

COVID-19 Testing & Student Illnesses

Please keep your child home when they’re sick.  They must be at least 24-hours fever and vomit/diarrhea free (unmedicated) before returning to school. If your student has any COVID-like symptoms (see list), please keep them home until the symptoms have improved and a negative COVID-19 test result has been achieved.  At home test kits are available for all students from the school’s health office.

If your student tests positive for COVID-19, please complete the Self Reporting Tool and notify the school’s health office. If you have any questions about when and what is required for your student to return to school, please contact our health office at 619-605-3200, Option 3.

If your child will be absent please be sure to report your absence to the office, not just your teacher.  You may report the absence using this google form OR you may call our phone line at 619-605-3200 and press 1 for attendance to leave a message any day/time.  Please be specific in your reason.
