3rd & 4th Grade Concert Dec 13

Our 3rd and 4th Grade students will be concluding their semester of music instruction with a Holiday Concert!  Families of Grades 3 and 4 are invited to attend at 8:00am on Tuesday December 13th. Please plan to arrive a few minutes early to be seated before the performance begins. Families will enter and exit from the outside cafeteria doors.

Trimester 1 Awards Assembly Dec 16

At the end of each grading period/trimester, teachers select a few students to be recognized for demonstrating exceptional citizenship. In addition, Hancock recognizes students who have “perfect” and “outstanding” attendance. Perfect attendance means the student has not missed any days, and has not left early or arrived late. Outstanding attendance adds the group of students who were absent for all or part of a day but “made up” those days at a Core Academy/Saturday session or completed an Independent Contract. Our first Trimester Assembly is happening on the last day before Winter Break. Friday, Dec. 16. The presentation times are divided according to grade level. Parents will receive invitations if their student is being recognized.

Winter Break Dec 19 - Jan 2

Our Winter Break is for two weeks from December 19th through January 2nd. School will resume on TUESDAY January 3rd.

COVID-19 At Home Testing

COVID tests will be sent home with students this week. The district is providing all students and staff with at-home COVID-19 test kits to help our school communities have greater peace of mind about returning to school safely after the break. Testing before returning to school is recommended but not required. Additional test kits for students and staff are available at the Ed Center COVID-19 testing facility. If you test positive for COVID-19, please do not attend school and report your illness here

Toys at School

We recently have seen an increase in students bringing toys, trading cards, and playground equipment to school. As a reminder, we do not allow students to bring these to school. These items become a distraction to the learning environment in the classroom and cause disagreements on the playground. Please remind your child not to bring items from home without talking to the classroom teacher first.

Students Absent With COVID-like Symptoms

Please keep your child home when they’re sick. If your student has any COVID-like, Flu or RSV symptoms (see list), please keep them home until the symptoms have improved and a negative COVID-19 test result has been achieved.  If your student tests positive for COVID-19, please complete the Reporting Tool: https://sforce.co/3HOD3ZL If you have any questions about when and what is required for your student to return to school, please contact our health office at 619-605-3200, Option 3.

Need to Report an Absence?

If your child will be absent please be sure to report your absence to the office, not just your teacher.  You may report the absence using this google form or you may also call our phone line at 619-605-3200 and press 1 for attendance to leave a message.  Please be specific in your reason. Building strong, trusting relationships that promote a feeling of belonging is fundamental to improving student attendance & engagement. http://bit.ly/1oqfID7 #SchoolEveryDay
