Attendance Matters
San Diego Unified has begun sending monthly reports to families regarding attendance. The next letter will be sent electronically by the district the week of February 20th. You may already have seen the first of these automated reports, which will inform you of student absences, both Excused and Unexcused absences to date and help track Chronic Absenteeism. Chronic absence is defined as missing 10 percent or more of school days due to absence for any reason—excused and unexcused absences. This can translate into students having difficulty learning to read by the third-grade, achieving in middle school, and graduating from high school. If you have any questions about the letter, please contact our school’s Family Services Assistant, Ms. Nina Faircloth. Her number is (619) 709-4932.

Parking At and around Hancock
-
Please do not park on Brumby Street. There are signs notifying you that there is no school parking allowed and residents have had difficulty parking in their own driveways due to cars blocking them.
-
Reserved Parking Spaces: The 8 parking spots facing the kindergarten playground and garden are reserved for school staff. Do not park in these spots even if it’s for a quick pick-up. We have staff that work various hours and these spots are reserved for them.
-
Handicapped Spaces: It is unlawful for any person to park any vehicle in a space designated for disabled persons unless the vehicle displays either a special identification license plate or a distinguishing placard per California Vehicle Code. San Diego Police and SDUSD School Police periodically patrol the parking lot and will cite vehicles parked illegally.
