Hancock Harvest Wednesdays - Food Distribution: 9/30 🍅🧅
Hancock Harvest food distribution is back this week. In partnership with Feeding San Diego and our amazing community volunteers, we will offer FREE food distributions for 150 families on a first-come, first-served basis. Please check the scheduled calendar for upcoming dates, and remember to bring a wagon, stroller, or bags to help carry your food home! - Calendar

Flag Assembly 7:50am
This Friday, we will hold our monthly All School Flag Assembly at the very beginning of school (7:50 AM). You are invited to gather with us in our quad area after the first bell to salute the flag and celebrate some awards. Teachers of award-winning children will be contacting parents.
Community Chat 8:15am
Join us for Community Chat to hear updates from Hancock Staff! We will introduce our new Associate and current Interim Principal Barb Waller, who will be presenting the Hancock’s Title I district slidedeck. Our PTF Garden Liaison will also stop by to share updates about our school Garden and ways to get involved … Light snacks will be provided :)
Volunteers for Give Back Friday
Join us this Friday, October 2nd, for our next “Give Back Friday”. Volunteers are needed to help our teachers with extra projects. Stop by anytime after our Community Chat in Room 702 (Eagle’s Nest). Coffee, snacks, and a play area for young children will be provided. Please check in at the front office. Any amount of time is appreciated!- Flyer
New After School Program Thursdays
This week, Heartlight will be returning to Hancock to offer their dynamic and movement based program to students who wish to register. Heartlight will meet after school (12:20-1:20) on Thursdays 10/1 - 11/5. Register here. See Flyer for information.
Please Keep Accessible Parking Spaces Clear ♿
A friendly but important reminder that accessible parking spaces and access areas must remain clear at all times, including during after-school and PrimeTime pickup. These spaces are legally reserved for individuals with proper authorization, and many of our students, families, and staff depend on them for safe access.
Please do not park, stop, or block an accessible space or access aisle, even for a few minutes. Thank you for helping us keep Hancock safe and accessible for everyone!
Need to Report an Absence? 🤒
Communication with our Attendance Clerk, Ms Shauna, is important if your student is absent for any reason. Per San Diego Unified Board policy, if you do not report the reason for the absence to the office within 5 school days, even if it was for an excused reason as permitted by CA Ed Code (illness, medical or dental appointments, funeral services, certain military-connected activities, etc.), it will automatically be changed to an unexcused absence. Please be sure to report the absence and the reason to the office every time. You can do this 24/7 either online or by phone @ 619-605-3200 Option 1. Our teachers cannot excuse absences, so be sure to only report absences to the front office.
