Meet Our Kindergarten Teachers

Mr. Churchill

Mr. Churchill, Kindergarten

Hi!! My name is Drew Churchill and it's my second year here at Hancock! I grew up just down the road, graduating from Serra in 2011. I moved up to Los Angeles for a couple of years to get my degree in Geology at UCLA, but I always knew I'd find my way back to San Diego. I got my teaching credential at PLNU and I am now in my second year teaching. My goal in education is to be someone who develops students who enjoy learning and are able to adapt to each unique learning opportunity presented to them. This might be why my favorite thing to teach is science. When I'm not teaching you can probably find me playing, or watching, tennis and soccer or going on a weekend camping trip.

Ms. Cimins

Mrs. Cimins, Kindergarten

My name is Trace Cimins. I have been a teacher here at Hancock for over 20 years! I used to teach 4th grade and now I teach kindergarten. I have taught kinder for over 10 years now, and I still love it! I was born in San Diego and have lived here for most of my life. My dad was in the Navy, so we did move around a little. We had a short stint in Pensacola, FL and then a few months in Bremerton, WA. We were back in San Diego by the 6th grade. I attended Miller, Farb and then graduated from Serra High School. When I became a teacher I knew I wanted to serve this community. I have been lucky to spend over 20 years serving the children of military families and I love it. Thank you for all you do!

Mrs. Gonzalez

Mrs. Gonzalez, Kindergarten

My name is Anne Gonzalez, and I came to Hancock in 2014.  I have been a TK/K teacher since 2010, and have been teaching with the SDUSD for several years prior to that.

I grew up here in Tierrasanta, and love the school and the neighborhood!  I graduated from Serra High in 1996, and have had many friends in the Murphy Canyon housing area since the 80s.  My parents still live in the Tierrasanta community as do many of my friends, so this neighborhood holds a very special place in my heart.

I love going camping or doing activities outdoors, but also enjoy hanging out at home with my family and my pets. I love music and play piano and violin.  My absolute favorite subjects to teach are Science and Art!

I am happy to be back in kindergarten after two years of fourth grade.  I attended SDSU where I got my BA in Liberal Studies and my Multiple Subject Teaching Credential.  I am originally from Orange County, but I absolutely love San Diego and all it has to offer!   I love being at the beach, gardening,  trying out a new recipe, or hanging with my Labrador Retriever, Doug.
